I was impressed at the length of program having it over months. It felt like, and was, something we could get lots out of, rather than a token one day workshop. It wasn’t just about self-leadership, it was about leading the business as a whole. It really added value to what I’m doing in my role. Personally, as I was fairly new to the role, it’s given me direction and confidence to manage the park. It opened up relationships with other organisations across the island. Doing the program reminded me of what sort of leader I am and want to be, as a work in progress, because everyone needs a different kind of leader. They don’t all need the same version of me, they need something slightly different.

I was reluctant to do the program, as I’d had a tough few months leading up to it, having been running the business through a difficult and challenging phase. I was unsure and time-constrained and it felt like a hindrance. How Genevieve facilitated and was with me and my uniqueness, allowed me to relax and ease myself into it and the unfamiliar group environment. I opened myself up to the experience. Going into the course I was very black and white, and being around the group that are part of our destination enabled me to realise that we need to approach this industry with a different mindset, because people are coming here on a holiday. My big takeaway is the future is exciting as long as it’s approached with a relaxed perspective!
