Reflecting on the Quarter

It’s hard to believe that we’re about to finish Quarter 1 for 2022. How fast has that flown! Well it was fast here. Between juggling school holidays, weeks of rain and then Covid, feels like we’ve barely got the year started, then an office neighbour and I were laughing this morning about Ground Hog Day and how quickly Monday morning comes around again and again.

Last week I had the pleasure of chauffeuring my parents around and we visited a few old haunts of both theirs in the Eastern Suburbs and mine in the Inner West. This picture was the very first apartment I ever bought. We named it the Dutch Barn house for its unusual architecture and I was in a one bedroom apartment in the middle of the building.

It was such a significant phase of life. Making the first real estate purchase, having to stretch my  self and  confidence to learn all sorts of things about property, the legalities, moving house, dealing with people of all trades and professions, adjusting to new neighbours. It was a huge journey. And whilst that was many years ago now, close to 20 years ago, each time I drive past this old place, I’m reminded of the importance of gratitude and reflection.

We can spend so much time looking toward the future, what we want, have to do, haven’t done yet etc, however it’s also critical to reflect back and acknowledge the growth, the learnings, the journey to date. Whether you do it year to year, week to week, month to month or quarter to quarter, it’s an important activity as an individual, team and business.

So with that in mind, as March comes to a close, what are you grateful for this quarter?

What have been your highlights?

What have been the learnings?

What is still a work-in-progress as you move into Quarter 2?

Take some time to acknowledge and reward yourself and the team, before moving forward.
