All Conversations Count

When it comes to people’s problems, are you nipping things in the bud?

Sitting and contemplating, or sweeping them under the carpet?

Ignoring them and praying either the situation will sort itself out, they’ll sort themselves out, or people will grow up and get over it, move on, and forget about it?

I’ve heard all of these and more recently helped clients struggling with people issues and erratic team performance. Some people are performing well, amazingly, others less so, and some causing continual issues and management headaches.

Great leaders are quick to make decisions and slow to change their minds, as opposed to those who are slow to make decisions and quick to change their minds.

What decisions are you avoiding making?

People’s problems only fester and worsen if not attended to.

They also have a ripple effect across the whole team if not attended to.

They have an enormous impact on customers and likely other stakeholder groups.

However, the majority of tourism businesses never look to measure their people’s performance in ways that take into account engagement, accountability, and actual performance development that helps create, build, and train in high performance.

What we don’t measure, we can’t see.

If you’re not measuring it, in some way shape, or form, you may not be seeing or knowing the impacts.

Please be the business that cares about the growth and development of people, because no matter how amazing your tourism product or experience, the nature, the food, the wine, or whatever your tourism product may be, if your people are underperforming and the important conversations aren’t being had, it’s costing.

It’s costing you, customers.

It’s costing you, people.

It’s costing you.

It’s costing the business.

Nip it in the bud.

Have an environment where all conversations are critical.

Whether they’re casual convos, constructive feedback, corrective or crucial immediate discussions.

Do not sit on these.

All conversations count, they matter and all are important.

Have the conversations.

And if you’re not sure how – you can ASK ME.
