Got Your Tourism Business Blueprint Ready for 2023?

When we work with tourism business leaders, we break the blueprint down into 4 chunks.

Immediate, short, medium, and long-term goals.

We know many people have a love/hate relationship with goal setting, because they often either become unrealistic numbers on a page or unachievable objectives without quality staff to make it all happen.

We also often see the day-to-day simply take over, and as we all know there are never enough hours in the day to get everything on the to-do list done. The magnitude and length of that to-do list slow people down, and combined with that day-to-day, those goals sadly remain desires, wishes, and intentions, yet not real.

We go a step further when working on the blueprint with clients by really drilling down into 7 key theme areas.

What needs to happen in the business when it comes to the following;

  1. Action – How are you attracting and selling your Tourism Experience?
  2. Relationships – How are you serving and retaining people in the business? This can be staff, customers, and other key stakeholders ie. suppliers, RTO/STO/NTO partners or agent network, etc.
  3. Differentiation– How are you marketing and positioning the business?
  4. Systems & Processes– How are you automating and being organized with processes, procedures, and policies across all the departments in the business?
  5. Growth Opportunities– How are you innovating and leveraging to take the business to and through the next growth phase?
  6. Culture– How are you showcasing the values and living the mission of the business?
  7. Legacy– How are you reinventing and adapting the business which continues to share and leave an extraordinary legacy for well into the future?

One of the very common mistakes we see tourism leaders making is being distracted by the non-critical theme areas and not actually putting the energy and specific attention into what’s needed most for the here and now.

You see, all businesses are in different growth phases, thus the strategic objectives need to be different. It’s not about doing it all, it’s about doing what’s critical for where a business is at right now, and where it wants to be by the end of 2023.

This is where the blueprint comes in handy.
It’s knowing what to focus on and when that’s paramount.

It’s about engaging and utilizing resources effectively.

Does your Tourism Business have its 2023 Business Blueprint ready to roll now that the peak holiday season has come to an end?
